Transition
Here are some thoughts about Transition, working on the assumption that the F&M will approve the changes
It is easy (maybe!) to think about how the new governance structure will look when it is embedded, but we also need to think about how to move from the old structure to the new.
There are five main areas to consider, all set out below. Some of these are simply proposals for To Do lists, and some, in red, require thought and decisions. This isn't a Transition Plan yet - it's simply a list of what I think we need to have ready. I will work on the actual plan when the WG and Council have agreed what needs to be in place.
Please could you give me your initial thoughts? That will give me an idea of what might be popular/successful and what will just cause trouble.
(Polite reminder: as always, many of these topics overlap with each other. So a question that springs to mind at the beginning of this list might be answered by the time you get to the end of the list. )
Practical 1: Admin and processes
Practical 2 - staff
Meetings 1 - the meetings cycle
Meetings 2 - agendas - what goes in which meeting?
Meetings 3 - the very first Council meeting
Meetings 4 - the very first Trustee meeting
Populating the Board
VERY IMPORTANT - Staggering terms of office
The Investment Committee, to replace the Charter Trustees
What do you think?
All thoughts welcome - I can then prepare a fuller set of options for the Working Group and then for Council. I've tried to make this easy by splitting the form into the different topics, but let me know if it's a pain. You can send more than one message - you don't have to sit down and do it all at once.
